Here are some common questions answered on Philips website:
Is it safe? 'The safest way to whiten teeth is by using gel prescribed by a dental professional'
Some products that are available to buy can contain harmful ingredients such as lemon juice, citric acid and bicarbonate soda (instead of a whitening ingredient) which dissolve stains and can be damaging and harmful to teeth in the long term. Therefore, it is best to ask advice and have professional treatment done by one of our Philips ZOOM! Dentists.
Why is Hydrogen Peroxide not harmful?
'Professional products contain safe levels of hydrogen peroxide which are more effective, gentle on enamel and custom made.'
Hydrogen Peroxide is absorbed by the tooth and turns the tooth white from the inside as well as removing stains from the outside by breaking down colour molecule instead of using dissolving ingredients. This is why the results vary between patients because it works with your own natural tooth and it's colouring.
Will it hurt?
'Some sensitivity is normal however this can be reduced dramatically with the addition of desensitizing agents.'
Zoom! take home kits have a desensitizer gel know as ACP. 'Twice as many users/patients reported no sensitivity when using NiteWhite ACP versus whitening without ACP.' ACP reduces sensitivity and doesn't compromise the end result of your teeth whitening.
